PQMD Welcomes Two New NGO Members: Airlink & International Rescue Committee
Annapolis, MD. – March 15, 2022 – The Partnership for Quality Medical Donations (PQMD), is proud to announce the addition of Airlink and International Rescue Committee to their membership. The addition of these exceptional organizations that provide humanitarian relief around the world brings PQMD’s membership to 47 member NGOs and Corporations.
Airlink is a global humanitarian organization delivering critical aid to communities in crisis by providing airlift and logistical solutions to nonprofit partners, changing the way the humanitarian community responds to disasters around the world.
Airlink exists to help remove the cost of air transportation as a barrier to NGOs responding to disasters and other humanitarian crises. Its network includes more than 130 aid organizations and 50 commercial and charter airlines. Since its inception in 2010, Airlink has flown more than 8,000 relief workers and transported nearly 5,000,000 pounds of humanitarian cargo. In 2021 the humanitarian aid Airlink delivered assisted 7.8 million people.
“Airlink is delighted to contribute its logistical expertise and aviation industry connectivity to PQMD; bringing together nonprofit and corporate organizations to collaborate on disaster responses is vital. The more the talents, expertise, and resources of the NGO community and private sector are aligned in responding to human tragedy, the more we can do.”
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people affected by humanitarian crises—including the climate crisis—to survive, recover and rebuild their lives. Founded at the call of Albert Einstein in 1933, the IRC is now at work in over 40 crisis-affected countries as well as communities throughout Europe and the Americas. We deliver lasting impact by providing health care, helping children learn, and empowering individuals and communities to become self-reliant, always seeking to address the inequalities facing women and girls.
“The IRC is grateful to be welcomed as a member into the Partnership for Quality Medical Donations. Each year, millions of people in refugee communities and vulnerable populations die from preventable causes in countries affected by conflict and disaster. The IRC’s health teams work to ensure that the people we serve have safe and reliable access to medicine and treatment, and we believe our collaboration with PQMD and their members will help further that mission.” – Ourania Dionysiou, Vice President, International Philanthropy and Partnerships
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome these extraordinary organizations, which will bring valuable knowledge and resources to our membership as we move collectively to strengthen health systems and work to support more resilient and sustainable resources for quality healthcare worldwide,” says EJ Ashbourne, Executive Director of PQMD.
