WELCOME TO THE PQMD MAPPING TOOL USER GUIDE

The mapping tool is easy to use. The instructions below will help you find the information you need to take advantage of all the resources that the PQMD site has to offer.

This user guide is divided into three sections: Search Options, Search Results and Library. Each of these sections is described in detail below. You should begin clicking on the mapping tool link on the PQMD home page. This will bring you to the first page of the tool.

Introduction to the Tool Interface

Below is the initial Mapping Tool screen. Each icon on the map represents a region of the World. Click on an icon to zoom down to that region.

Below the map you'll see the Search Criteria options. See Search Features for more information on each of these options.

SEARCH OPTIONS

On the top right portion of the map, are three display options. The default view, Hybrid shows the satellite image, country name and boundaries, and shows roads when available.

The Map view shows country names, and roads when available. Satellite view shows only the satellite image. The icons are displayed on all three views.

Additionally, you can zoom in or out pressing the + or – keys. Move the cursor over a location and use the mouse scroll button to zoom in or out on that location. To center and zoom in on a location, double click the location.

Using the Navigation Controls

The navigation controls you see at ‘maps.google.com’ are shown on the left. Navigation controls include:

1. Arrows – Click the appropriate arrow buttons to move the view north, south, east or west. Click to return to your original view.

2. Zoom – Click + to zoom in on the center of the map. Click – to zoom out.

3. Zoom slider – Drag the zoom slider up or down to zoom in or out incrementally.

SHIPMENT TYPE	Icons
	Disease Specific: programs where a company produces products for the sole purpose of eradicating a specific disease.
	Humanitarian Relief: donations to address natural or manmade emergencies.
	Ongoing: donations to meet a wide ranges of health care needs.
	Medical Kit: donations to address medical mission needs.
	Icons with dots: includes facility information.
HUMANITARIAN EMERGENCY	Natural or manmade emergency.
SHOW ONLY CASE STUDIES	This feature narrows the search to only shipments that describe how the donations are used.
SEARCH	Choose this button to activate search (see description below.)
REGION OVERVIEW	List of geographic regions.
CLEAR	Clears all selected search criteria.

Choose more than one search criteria to narrow down your results; For example, choose an organization/Abbott and country/Belize to see what donations Abbott has shipped to Belize.

The more search criteria chosen, the narrower the results will be. Information bubble will show the search results listed by clicking on one of the icons.

To view only Case Studies, click the Case Study check box. The shipments that appear on the map will contain a detailed case study about a PQMD Member(s) and that particular country. On the details tab, click the Case Study link and it will take you to another page containing the Case Study story.

Search Results

Your search results will display a view of the world that is just large enough to map the resulting shipments.

Above the map, will be an aggregated total dollar value for the shipments.

Up to 50 shipments will be displayed at a time, to view more shipments click on the additional page numbers or Next.

Viewing Info Windows:

Clicking on a shipment icon will open an info window. The windows consist of two tabs, List and Details.

The List tab will display all shipments and case studies (if available) for that location.

Click on a shipment to view details for that shipment.
The Details tab shows additional information for the selected shipment or defaults to the first shipment if none are selected.

Library

The Library is a clearinghouse of PQMD gathered resources. The library is seperated into 7 categories. Simply click on the category you are interested in and you will see a list of folders and documents available for download. Each document is posted as a PDF document and can be downloaded directly to your computer.

To the right, you'll see the Library menus. This is located on the right side of the screen and is expanded by clicking Library. In addition to the 7 categories listed on the menu, you can also access these categories on the main library page as well as a quick link to the WHO Guidelines and the PQMD Guildelines for Medical Product Donations.

Downloading

Simply click the file you want to view.

Depending on the browser you are using, the file will download to your computer to view or become available to download.

Follow any on screen prompts in order to view the document.

To get started, click on a region icon to view donations for that geographic area OR – use the menu below to refine your search criteria;
