PQMD Welcomes action medeor to Membership

Annapolis-based Nonprofit Stands at 39 Members

Annapolis, Md. – March 1, 2017 – The Partnership for Quality Medical Donations (PQMD), is proud to announce the addition of action medeor to their membership. The German-based non-governmental organization (NGO), which officially joined in February, becomes the 39th member of PQMD.

We are happy to contribute our expertise especially in the field of emergency and disaster relief to jointly pursue our goal of improving healthcare around the world.”

Founded in 1964, the German non-governmental organization action medeor e.V. supplies healthcare facilities in about 100 countries with drugs as well as medical equipment and supplies. Based on many years’ experience, action medeor has built up a comprehensive network of facilities in the healthcare sector. In cases of emergency, action medeor delivers medical aid to the disaster area. Thanks to a permanent stock of 170 different drugs and 450 items of medical supplies and equipment deliveries of medical aid can reach the disaster area within the first 24 hours.

In co-operation with experienced local non-governmental organisations, action medeor handles its own health care projects in Asia, Latin America and Africa. action medeor supports the establishment of healthcare services and the education and training of local medical and pharmaceutical personnel.

A global alliance of corporations and NGOs, PQMD leads the development and championing of high standards in medical supply and service donation. The cornerstone of the organization, “PQMD Guidelines for Quality Medical Product Donations” are a set of guidelines which are rigorously updated on an annual basis to help manage donated medical products, devices and services and the performance of those who participate in the industry worldwide.  Seeking to enhance access to health care in underserved communities and areas affected by disaster, PQMD members focus their broad expertise in the areas of humanitarian assistance, disaster response, health system strengthening, and knowledge and innovation.
