Steve Hower is Director, Corporate Relations, at Heart to Heart International (HHI) in Lenexa, Kansas
Steve joined the HHI staff after 10 years of volunteering with HHI in 2002, shortly after the aftermath of 911 in New York City. Steve was hired to manage the HHI’s partnership with the Greater Kansas City United Way clothing distribution project due to his extensive retail management experience in warehousing and operations. He also had gained non-profit expertise by serving in management positions with the YMCA in Salina, Kansas, and Olathe, Kansas.
In 2006 was named to lead Heart to Heart’s Domestic programs and has also served in the role of Director, Volunteer Engagement and Operations. In this position he managed the coordination of volunteers, product distribution and relief efforts both domestically and internationally, including the “Physicians With Heart partnership with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Since 2009, he served as the corporate liaison for the BD Volunteer Service Trip partnership, working closely with BD staff to manage the deployment of BD employees in volunteer service to Haiti.
In 2012 Hower was promoted to Director, Corporate Relations and serves as the corporate liaison and strategic partnerships for Heart to Heart.
Steve work travel has included Bolivia, Cameroon, China, Cuba, England, Guatemala, Haiti, Hong Kong, Moldova, Puerto Rico, The Republic of Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Switzerland, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
Steve joined the PQMD Board as the Heart to Heart representative in August of 2012. He has served on the Guidelines Committee and as Program Management Committee Chair from 2015-2020 and currently and serves as the NGO Sector Lead on the Executive Board.
Other Board Experience: Steve has served on numerous church board positions. He is a past member of the Olathe Rotary and the city of Olathe’s “Moss Point” Task Force.
Steve is a graduate of Kansas State University.
He and his wife of 38 years, Liane (Radiation Oncology Nurse) live in Olathe and like to spend time with their Golden Retriever, Molly, travel internationally, walk on the beach, and are devoted supporters and volunteers for Heart to Heart. They have a 30 years old married son (who served in the Marines) currently working for BNSF Railroad
