Lois Brown

President, Health Partners International Canada (HPIC)

Lois Brown is a tireless and exemplary community leader. She was twice elected Member of Parliament for Newmarket-Aurora. As Parliamentary Secretary for International Development, Lois represented Canada on the world stage and helped Canada become a world leader in Maternal and Newborn Health. In 2014, Lois co-chaired the Prime Minister’s “Saving Every Woman, Every Child” Summit on Maternal, Newborn and Child Health in Toronto which featured many world leaders including Melinda Gates, Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, Director-General Dr. Margaret Wong of the WHO and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. During her time in office, Lois was a member of The Red tape Reduction Commission and served on the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Lois is a small business owner, having co-founded a successful disability management company that works with large and small Canadian industries. She volunteers extensively with numerous community organizations, having served on the Executive Committees of the Royal Canadian Legion, Newmarket Branch, the North Newmarket Lions Club, and serving as Honourary Chair of Operation Red Nose, Safe Driving Program. Currently, Lois is a member of Regimental Council for the Queen’s York Rangers and sits on the York Region Council for St. John Ambulance. Lois was inducted into the Order of St. John by the Governor General.

Currently, Lois holds the position of President of Health Partners International Canada, an Oakville based Not for Profit that is the only charity licenced by Health Canada to procure, store, ship and mobilize high quality, donated medicines from the manufacturer to developing countries.

An accomplished Musician, Lois holds an ARCT Degree (University of Toronto) and is currently finishing a Degree in Development Economics. Lois was the Accompanist for the York Region Police Male Chorus for 12 years and the local choral group, Take Note. She also regularly uses her musical talents at church.

Lois and her husband, Kelvin, reside in Newmarket. They have two adult married daughters and one grandson.
