Chris Barr leads Takeda U.S. Philanthropic Strategy & Giving program responsible for the design, development, and execution of Takeda’s U.S. philanthropic giving program. Under his leadership, Takeda implemented a reimagined philanthropic program that has committed over $54M to nonprofit organizations in the U.S. helping improve equity among communities through programs focused on food is health and building STEM foundations. He also oversees the company’s U.S. employee matching gift program and a volunteer program that has logged over 24,000 hours in 2023.

Prior to joining Takeda, Chris spent 17 years in a variety of roles in the biotech, pharma, and technology industries, with a majority in philanthropic investments and corporate social responsibility. Previous roles include leading the Community Investment team for the Electronic Systems sector of BAE Systems, Head of Corporate Responsibility and Social Partnerships at Biogen, and leading community giving at Amgen’s Massachusetts site.

Chris has received a BSBA from Suffolk University, an MBA from Purdue University and a Masters in Communications and Leadership from Gonzaga University.
