The Merck MECTIZAN® Program (http://www.merck.com/cr/enabling_access/developing)- is one of the most significant initiatives undertaken by Merck to help improve access to medicines in developing countries is the Merck MECTIZAN Donation Program. Established nearly 20 years ago, the MECTIZAN Donation Program is the single largest, longest standing public/private partnership of its kind and is widely regarded as one of the most successful public-private health collaborations in the world.

Abbott Global Care (http://www.abbottglobalcare.org/) - Abbott Laboratories has maintained a long-term commitment to the fight against HIV through its research and products, as well as philanthropic activities including support for education and social services. Step Forward, an important extension of this commitment, addresses the needs of AIDS orphans and vulnerable children by providing resources and engaging in partnerships with local communities and organizations.

SECURE THE FUTURE (http://www.securethefuture.com/) - Bristol-Myers Squibb is committed to the SECURE THE FUTURE program, designed to develop innovative ways to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS among women and children and to help communities deal with the HIV/AIDS crisis. The SECURE THE FUTURE Initiative works with African governments and communities to bring local solutions to the epidemic.

International Trachoma Initiative (ITI) (http://www.trachoma.org/history.php) – dedicated to the elimination of blinding trachoma, ITI was founded in 1998 by the Edna McConnell Clark Foundation and Pfizer Inc. Working on an independent basis, ITI seeks to achieve global elimination of blinding trachoma by putting into action the SAFE (Surgery, Antibiotics, Face washing, Environmental change) strategy, including the donated antibiotic - Zithromax, applied research and program evaluation, and communications and advocacy.
