Three PQMD Members Featured as Finalists for GBCHealth Award
GBCHealth recently announced nine finalists for the 2016 Business Action on Health Award: Focus on Women & Girls. This selected group of programs represent the most eminent efforts of the private sector to enhance the health and well-being of women and girls across the globe. They epitomize the numerous and wide ranging initiatives — from nutrition projects to innovative technologies to community education programs — that affirm support for women and girls.
All nine finalists have been assessed by GBCHealth’s panel of judges – comprised of experts from across government, multilateral, NGO, academic, and business sectors. Three PQMD members, BD (Becton, Dickinson & Co.), Merck & Co., and Johnson & Johnson, are in contention for this prestigious award.
Though GBCHealth has been recognizing companies with high-impact global health initiatives for over a decade, this particular award category is a new addition. It emphasizes that improving the health of women and girls globally is exigent in pursuing the U.N.’s new Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). One winner and three commended companies will be honored at the 4th Women Deliver Conference, May 16-19 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
This year’s Women Deliver conference is an ideal moment to honor the influential programs. As one of the first major global meetings after the launch of the SDGs, the gathering will focus on how to implement goals as they relate to women and girls — and in particular maternal, sexual, and reproductive health and rights.
PQMD wishes to congratulate all the finalists for their nominations and for their continued programmatic success! Learn more about the 2016 Business Action on Health Awards: Focus on Women and Girls by clicking here.
