Hundred wait in line in the PhilippiansOver the past decade, The Home-Reach Foundation (HRF) has been a Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB) preferred partner for the placement of its donated medicines and medical supplies HRF has provided medical care to poor children and communities in the Philippines since 1993. Today HRF’s work focuses on the delivery of medical, surgical, and dental care to rural areas, particularly to needy patients in the Province of Bohol.

Bohol is a resource poor island-province in Southwest Central Philippines. Though just an hour's flight from the capital of Manila, the region’s isolation affects everyday lives in many ways, especially its lack of modern health-care facilities. Many families in this region barely survive on low wages earned from working in agriculture and fishing. The meager sums they earn cannot even pay for the trip to the poorly equipped and understaffed Government Hospitals.

CMMB supports HRF because they have demonstrated a proven ability to identify and meet the healthcare needs of the area, as well as to monitor results. For example, HRF volunteers repack medicine from bulk packaging into patient-sized envelopes to facilitate efficient and effective dispensing at their outreach clinics. In addition to supplying local hospitals with medicines and medical supplies, HRF supports local health specialists in Bohol and sends Medical Mission Teams from the United States to the region.

A mother and her baby in the Philippians Since 1999, CMMB has made 98 shipments to support the efforts of HRF in the Philippines, including the product below from Boehringer Ingelheim. HRF has nominated CMMB for the 2008 Philippine Presidential Award (Kaanib ng Bayan) for Institutions, praising its generous donations of primary healthcare medicines, many from Boehringer Ingelheim, to the people of the Philippines.
