After Heat and Disease Deaths, WHO Seeking Access to Displaced Persons in Syria

 

The World Health Organization is seeking access to 210,000 displaced people who fled fighting in southern Syria. The displaced urgently need medicines and health services, and some require evacuation due to injury.

Recent temperatures reached 45 degrees Celsius (113°F), and at least 15 Syrians, including 12 children, have died in the last week due to dehydration and diseases linked to contaminated water. Three out of four public hospitals and health centers in Deraa and Quneitra are closed or partially functioning.
